Timothy Garton Ash argues that pocketbook panic will hurt Barack Obama’s prospects, with an electoral ‘flight to safety’ pushing voters towards the McCain/Palin ticket. Yet the evidence right now is that despite market turmoil and economic anxiety, Obama is riding high again. If ‘it’s the economy, stupid‘ that dominates November’s election, who will that favour?
