By Mark LeibovichST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. — Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Monday stepped up his attack on Senator John McCain, charging that his longtime colleague had no understanding of economic issues, that he should be called “Bush 44″ and that the Republican presidential nominee has “bet the house on the politics perfected by Karl Rove.”

After two weeks in which Senator Barack Obama’s running mate has been systematically overshadowed by Mr. McCain’s – Gov. Sarah Palin – Mr. Biden has struggled to break through the daily give-and-take of what has become an increasingly rancorous campaign. But in his speech here, Mr. Biden took heavy swings at his longtime colleague and made a full-throated play for a piece of the debate.  Source Article
