With some national polls suggesting that John McCain has moved into a statistical tie with Barack Obama in the presidential race, the Illinois senator’s advisers are seeking to move the campaign out of the realm of a personality battle and back to a policy debate.
During an appearance on “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” last night, Obama pushed back hard on comments made last week by McCain campaign manager Rick Davis that “this election is not about issues” but rather about “a composite view of what people take away from these candidates.”
Said Obama last night (look below for the full video of his interview with Keith): “John McCain’s campaign manager said this campaign is not going to be about the issues. That was his assertion. Well, I think that the American people expect it to be about the issues. They deserve it to be about the issues. That’s what we’re going to keep on pressing in the weeks that will remain.” Source Article
